French Oak has long been considered
the premium Oak choice due to its fine grain and high tannin content.
Monarch Plank’s Artisans Preferred Unfinished French Oak is ‘single-origin,’
sourced exclusively from the Burgundy region, making it the ideal platform for
advanced finishing techniques such as tannin-reactive stains. We are as
particular about our Oak sourcing as the finest wine barrel manufacturers.
Polish Oak
Our Polish Oak comes from a region
of Poland that is renowned for having Oak of the highest quality and color
consistency, making it ideal for creating lighter and more natural colors where
the tone consistency of the raw material is paramount. Due to the slower
growing conditions in Poland’s cold climate, our Polish Oak generally exhibits
tighter grain structure than French Oak.

Overview
Prime Grade allows only occasional, very small knots, with minimal sapwood and far fewer character marks than our Rustic Grade.
Rustic Grade highlights the breadth of the wood’s natural character, including knots, lighter new growth sapwood, mineral streaks, and small cracks.
Our standard herringbone comes in Prime Grade or Rustic Grade
and is also available as a chevron pattern by special order.
American Black Walnut, known for its gorgeous color and exquisite grain structure. No other wood can compare. Our wide-plank Select Grade allows only small knots and minimal new-growth sapwood.
