Luxury wide plank hardwood flooring built exclusively from FSC® C092805 certified older growth plantation teak in Thailand
For centuries, Teak has been one of the most precious and sought after woods on Earth. Treasured for its beauty, durability, and exceptional resistance to rot and moisture-related expansion and contraction, Teak has long been a favorite of high-end furniture makers, boat builders, and woodworkers. Teak has a deep brown color punctuated by subtle black streaks and a unique grain structure that makes it among the most beautiful woods available.
Unfortunately, centuries of fierce demand for Teak has led to over-harvesting, and it is largely depleted in its native habitat in the jungles of SE Asia, making it difficult to find from legal sources.
Our True Teak is real Tectona grandis, the authentic Teak from SE Asia, sometimes referred to as Burmese Teak, and not to be confused with the substitute species such as Brazilian Teak or African Teak that are more widely available today.
Most plantation-grown Teak is harvested when the trees are only around 15 years old, too young to develop the rich color and grain that make Teak so desirable for high end finishes. Monarch Plank’s True Teak is grown in the highlands of Thailand on plantations that are specially managed for longer life cycles of 30+ years. This older growth timber has more of the beautiful texture and color of natural rainforest Teak, but without the environmental impact. At last, designers and consumers can enjoy the precious beauty of genuine Teak flooring with the comfort of knowing that they are contributing to a more sustainable future.
